Venue Description
Dating back to the 17th century, this historic Grade II listed coaching inn stands as Reading’s oldest pub, steeped in tales and legacies. Surrounded by history with the Abbey only a few minutes walk, the building itself is famous for being the pub with an ancient ‘Norman arch’ door. Oozing with charm, the garden is a shining feature of The Rising Sun, with a number of decorated pergolas, a colourful shepherds hut bar and eight elegantly designed and heated dining pods.
The Rising Sun has undergone an extensive refurbishment to renovate and work its usual magic to the centuries old Inn. Whether you dine inside or out, you are sure to be wowed by our beautiful surroundings. Expect a number of cosy fireplaces, quiet nooks and atmospheric spaces in our bar area as well as a light and airy dining room, sure to hit the spot whatever the occasion. Dining room can be sectioned off to make completely private, we also have a number of semi private areas, perfect for small or large groups.
We have a range of cosy and spacious spaces and a canapé /set menu that can be adapted to your individual needs.
